Does anyone have DIY Yoga advice?

Question by Stormy: Does anyone have DIY Yoga advice?
I’m realy interested in getting into Yoga, but unfortunately there are no classes within reasonable driving distance of my town, so that’s not an option for me.

Can anyone suggest any good books or videos on Yoga that might help me at least ease into it? I bought Yoga For Dummies on a whim, and it’s been helpful, but I’d really like to find some videos that will give me better visual instruction. Can anybody recommend specific ones that are really good?

What is the best literature to aid in writing a screenplay or movie script?

Question by Dave: What is the best literature to aid in writing a screenplay or movie script?
I have an idea for what I would like to see as a movie… Yeah, I know… Fat chance… But I would really like to write a script for it and be able to present it in prefessional form. My history in writing is limited to poetry, songs and what writing I was required to do in school. So I am completely in the dark when it comes to writing a script or screenplay (see… for all I know, a script and a screenplay are the same thing). But I am aware that there is some kind of standard blueprint for how to write a script properly (ie: fonts, spacing, etc…). I am also aware that there are certain terms and lingo used in a professionally written script that the average Joe (me) are dumb to. So can anybody tell me a good resource for learning a good script outline and familiarizing myself with the lingo? I saw “Screenwriting for Dummies” on ebay and several other books and computer software. I’m not looking to jump into this blind and start writing before I can really delve deep into understanding how to properly write, package and present a script. So any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks guys.

While I dont know the particular answer to how a script is written, I would say the best thing to do is to look at the script of your favorite movie and see the differences between it and the movie. My favorite movie is a film called Pitch Black, and so when I saw the script for it, I loved it because there are some things that I read that made me visualize everything that I saw in the film, and other things that I noticed had been changed. I know it’s not what you asked, but I thought I’d still share. Here is the script to Pitch Black, it shows how the person who wrote this particular script decided to organize it. I hope this helps!

Question by Chase: C++ for dummies? Is there a difference between 1st edition and 5th.. etc?
I have picked up a copy of C++ for dummies (5th edition), which is a pretty thick book.

IS there a difference between the 1st editions and the 5th? Are you supposed to read them in order?

I need help with data handling to show in tables (Portlet Factory)?

Question by quiksilver_army: I need help with data handling to show in tables (Portlet Factory)?
I am using Java and XML to code a project and I’m facing a problem… I am using SQL to pull a list of cities… the data shows up like this:

Atlanta
Raleigh
New York
Denver
San Francisco
London

but I want it to look like this
Atlanta New York San Francisco
Raleigh Denver London

How can I do this without having to create a dummy table in SQL, since I did this but there are some cases where my query includes less Cities, for example
Atlanta New York
Raleigh Denver

and I face a problem since I cannot make the empty columns disappear… just in case, I’m building this with Websphere Portlet Factory

Best answer:

Answer by Jake Cigar
hey! it was your “just in case” that made me answer!

if it’s going to wind up on the web, it is formatted according to html rules! as long as it’s in the same tag, the cities will be flowed and formatted as fits best.

Atlanta
Raleigh
New York
Denver
San Francisco
London

is displayed as

Atlanta New York San Francisco
Raleigh Denver London

Fundamental of PPC Advertising and Google adsense

Fundamental of PPC Advertising and Google adsense

Article by Yogendra Nath Tiwari

PPC or pay per click is another form of advertising which can be done on search engines, ad networks, and websites or blogs. Pay per click is when an advertiser only pays for clicks to his or her website. Once the advertiser finds the site she wants to advertise on, they then bid on search terms or keywords that they think people will search for on search engines

if you have a website about food, or offer food products such as cook books, wine, food items, kitchen gadgets etc, then you would bid on keywords relevant to those words, or make those words your exact keywords. A good example of this would be Google adsense. Publishers can earn money by putting ads on their sites, and you the advertiser have a chance of your ad being put on the ads. Only when a user clicks these ads will the advertiser have to pay, which is why it’s called pay per click. Minimum prices per click depend on the site you decide to advertise with. Usually the lowest bid allowed is .01. The site where the advertiser would buy the bids would be on Adwords. There is also other pay per programs that may be better suited for you. These pay per programs include Pay Per Call, Pay Per Delivery, Pay Per Action, Pay Per Lead, and even Pay Per Listen. You can use any or all of these advertising programs to get more visitors to your site, visitors that are looking specifically for whatever it is your promoting or selling. Your best bet is to do a search on “PPC Advertising” and before you pick a site do some research, find some reviews. Ask about them in the forums you goto. See what types of sites get the best bids, the best results, etc. There are tons of sites out there that will be happy for you to register as an advertiser or a publisher. Some are legit, some are not. Choose carefully. Another small tip I can give you from personal experience, is if and when you find a PPC site or ANY pay per site, and its your first time using the site, use a small amount of money before you get into really LARGE campaigns. This way you can safely test the site out with out really losing too much money in the process. Here are examples of some legit sites where you can buy bids as an advertiser, some of these are better suited for PPC others are better suited for Pay Per Lead or Pay Per Action. Google AdWords, Bidvertiser, Adbrite, Yahoo! Search, Microsoft Adcenter, LookSmart, Amazon. Other good sites to try to advertise on are Social Networking sites such as Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, Moli, etc. Usually Social Networking sites are a huge cost though but you can be sure it will be worth it. Myspace alone has over 200 million members, that’s a lot of eyes just waiting to view your ads! Good luck with your bidding, I hope you all found that this article gave you some good ideas on what PPC is and how to go about it when searching for sites to put your ads

Question by nickyglh: Accounting for total Dummies / Quotation and Invoice Templates for my business?
I need to keep track of my expenses, especially as I’m having building work done so need to keep track of all expenditure incl method of payment – eg, Cash, Internet Banking etc.
I am totally useless with figures and MS Excel is way way way past my abilities.

So therefore I need a free software program that comes as simple as it can.

Also, looking for software that I can use to design, print, copy etc personal business stationary templates such as for Client Quotes and Invoices / and customizable as well – as in, when I quote, I like to give a detailed itemized quote.

Please help with TV connections for electronics dummy here?

Question by orionpkmyz: Please help with TV connections for electronics dummy here?
We just got a Samsung LCD (LNS4692D) with built-in HD (ATSC) tuner and 2 HDMI connections. We also have a Motorola DVR/HD box from Adelphia and an older Sony DVD player, nothing complicated (i.e. no surround sound system). The issue I have with the Samsung TV is I can’t get closed caption.
According to Samsung website: “Any video source that is not connected to your TV’s RF or Antenna inputs bypasses the TV’s Closed Caption decoder. Consequently, if you have a set-top-box, cable box, satellite receiver, or any other video source connected to your TV using Composite video, S-Video, Component video, DVI, or HDMI, you will not be able to access and use the Closed Caption function when you watch TV using that source.”
I’m not that good with all the technical stuff but isn’t it kinda silly to connect your HD cable box to regular video source, doesn’t that make it not high-def? My question is what can I do to get the best quality picture and closed caption too? Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by inverse_mushroom_cloud
Well, it does seem silly to bypass your HD connections, that’s correct.

But you shouldn’t have to.

The instructions are telling you that the tv can’t decode captioning from anything other than tv broadcasts OTA.

However, most of your other sources DO provide captioning. You need to enable these captions through the setup features of the individual units. In other words, your DVD player will have a menu selection to enable captions, and will send the captions to the tv through the component/DVI/HDMI port. The DVD player is doing it, not the tv. Likewise, your cable box should have a similar setup selection (I know my Dish receiver does, for example).

So, use the setup menus of your sources to enable captioning.
